What is it that makes a game stick with you? Long after the credits roll, what brings your mind and heart back to a particular game? This varies for many of us, and that's what makes it even more intriguing. The reason may be as simple as it was their first game, or something much deeper and meaningful.

In 1998, a group of about 25 game developers held a very "informal" game-centric conference. They had a dream and a vision to provide a venue and platform for developers to showcase their work and speak to the world about the incredible medium known as video games. Fast forward to today, and The Game Developer Conference is now the "the world's largest and longest-running professionals-only game industry event."

The Oculus Rift had a huge victory yesterday. Carmack, co-founder of id Software and one of the most influential names in gaming, joined Oculus VR, Inc. as Chief Technology Officer. For those unfamiliar, the Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset that is looking to revolutionize the way we play games, and if anyone can help them realize that dream, it's John Carmack.

I was born and raised in Cleveland, OH and have been playing video games my entire life. They are not just a hobby, but a true passion.

I started The Gamer's Advocate, a website and podcast, to give people a chance to have their voice heard. I believe that many people have greatness, they just need help taking those first few steps.

Besides video games, I love to travel and play/watch sports. Charity work is also a huge part of my life. This November, Ohio State, Extra Life, and The Gamer's Advocate are hosting an event on OSU's campus to raise money for Nationwide Children's Hospital.

I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2010 with a degree in Marketing. I currently live in Columbus, OH with my fiancée, Betsy Greenbaum
