What Makes a Game Special?

What is it that makes a game stick with you? Long after the credits roll, what brings your mind and heart back to a particular game? This varies for many of us, and that's what makes it even more intriguing. The reason may be as simple as it was their first game, or something much deeper and meaningful. Link to Story

The First Annual Ohio Game Developer Expo

In 1998, a group of about 25 game developers held a very "informal" game-centric conference. They had a dream and a vision to provide a venue and platform for developers to showcase their work and speak to the world about the incredible medium known as video games. Fast forward to today, and The Game Developer Conference is now the "the world's largest and longest-running professionals-only game industry event." Link to Story

It's time for us to look back and appreciate everything we have in our lives. While we are all stuffing our face with way too much turkey and mashed potatoes, we must remember all the great things that led us to this thankful day. Help Me Make a Difference in Our World

Better yet, think of what that word can mean to a child suffering from a disease that he or she does not deserve. Life, unfortunately, does not deal in fairness, and the cards that are dealt to us are not always in our favor. What life does give us, however, is the power to make a difference. We, as human beings, have the power and the choice to make a real, tangible change in this world, and it all begins with the courage to take that first step. Link to Story

The Oculus Rift had a huge victory yesterday. Carmack, co-founder of id Software and one of the most influential names in gaming, joined Oculus VR, Inc. as Chief Technology Officer. Microsoft and Their Lack of Integrity - Blog by Falcon-X32

Having integrity proves to the world that you are true to yourself and to others. It shows that you stand up for what you believe in, and against all odds, do not lose sight of yourself. Integrity should be the backbone of all companies and should be what we all strive for, each and every day. That's why, when Microsoft confirmed it would be abandoning its strict DRM and online requirements for the Xbox One, I was more upset than I thought I would be. Link to Story

Dirty Gaming Secrets: What Game Haven't You Played That You Should Have? - Blog by Falcon-X32

Super Mario Bros. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. These are games that if you haven't played, you aren't considered a "gamer". At least, that's what some people want you to think. There are those games that are considered the "holy grail" of video games, and for one reason or the other you may have not had the pleasure of experiencing said game. Link to Story

Adam Bankhurst

I was born and raised in Cleveland, OH and have been playing video games my entire life. They are not just a hobby, but a true passion.

I started The Gamer's Advocate, a website and podcast, to give people a chance to have their voice heard. I believe that many people have greatness, they just need help taking those first few steps.

Besides video games, I love to travel and play/watch sports. Charity work is also a huge part of my life. This November, Ohio State, Extra Life, and The Gamer's Advocate are hosting an event on OSU's campus to raise money for Nationwide Children's Hospital.

I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2010 with a degree in Marketing. I currently live in Columbus, OH with my fiancée, Betsy Greenbaum
